ABOUT
A Bit About Me
Barbouch has served as a language and cultural interpreter in social work and healthcare services since 2007. She began her career at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, where she assisted the hospital’s patients, their families, and healthcare providers until 2011. Subsequently, she joined La Banque interrégionale d’interprètes (BII) du CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, providing interpretation services in Arabic, French, and English.
Over the years, Mrs. Barbouch has amassed extensive experience and knowledge across various fields and departments. Her dedication to interpretation extends to numerous Montreal institutions and programs, including CLSCs, women shelters, hospitals, emergencies, schools, DYP, courtrooms, home visits, legal appointments, housing interviews, and more. She interprets for Social workers, Doctors, Nurses, Teachers, Psychologist, Psychiatrists, Speeshtherapists, dentists and lawyers.
Mrs. Barbouch has consistently demonstrated care, attention to detail, patience, and compassion when accompanying patients and clients. This is especially evident during challenging times when Canada has welcomed new immigrants from war-torn regions such as Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon. To better cater to her clients’ diverse needs and efficiently deliver professional services, she has undertaken complementary trainings.
In her role, Mrs. Barbouch encounters daily narratives of resilience, survival, and hardship. Clients share stories ranging from surviving wars and profound loss to those dealing with issues like conjugal violence, sexual abuse, and human trafficking. Having someone by their side who not only speaks their language but also comprehends their cultural nuances, history, and background allows clients to express themselves freely. This relieves them of the worry associated with language barriers, ensuring accurate communication of their thoughts and emotions to social workers or healthcare providers. Mrs. Barbouch’s support enables clients to share their experiences without fear of judgment or misinterpretation on multiple levels.
Barbouch fluently speaks French, English, Tunisian Arabic, Egyptian Arabic and other Arabic dialects from the Middle East.
