ABOUT
Biography
I served as a language and cultural interpreter in social work and healthcare services since 2007. I began my career at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, where I assisted the hospital’s patients, their families, and healthcare providers until 2011. Subsequently, I joined La Banque interrégionale d’interprètes (BII) du CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, providing interpretation services in Arabic, French, and English.
My Portfolio
What do I do?
My role as an interpreter is to facilitate complete understanding by enabling effective and accurate communication between individuals who speak different languages. My role also involves facilitating both verbal and nonverbal communication while mediating concepts and cultural practices as necessary.
More than words ...
Bridges of understanding & trust
As an interpreter, I play a vital role in fostering understanding and trust among my clients. Many express that they feel a sense of trust in confiding in me because they perceive me as someone who shares their background. They appreciate that I speak their language, comprehend their culture and traditions, and empathize with the experiences of being part of a visible minority. Additionally, my understanding of immigration and the associated struggles and challenges further strengthens the bond of trust between us.
Consequently, they perceive my role as a cultural interpreter as a conduit to express their feelings precisely and convey what they want the third party to comprehend.
